CarMine
CarMine (Recovery of Critical and Strategic Raw Materials from End-of-Life Electric Vehicles) is a Horizon Europe project developing an integrated strategy for the recovery, recycling and valorisation of critical and strategic raw materials from end-of-life electric vehicles. The project focuses on materials from lithium-ion batteries, such as lithium, nickel and cobalt, and rare earth elements from permanent magnets used in electric motors.
CarMine will demonstrate its solutions at pilot scale, covering vehicle dismantling and the recycling of lithium-ion batteries and NdFeB magnets. Recovered materials will be reintegrated into new products, supported by digital traceability tools, a Digital Product Passport and life cycle sustainability assessments to strengthen circularity, transparency and Europe’s resource security.
In the CarMine project, Magellan Circle leads two work packages: WP8 Exploitation, IPR and Standardisation and WP9 Communication, Dissemination and Clustering, supporting the uptake of project results and ensuring effective engagement with relevant stakeholders and the wider public.
